Connected Products

Certilogo offers a range of solutions that help brands protect intellectual property, prevent counterfeiting, engage consumers, gain data insights, and stay EU compliant.

These solutions include Connected Products, Digital Product Passports, Product Authentication, and Consumer Engagement programs.

Learn more

A connected product is a physical item made interactive through a “smart tag.” The smart tag is a physical item—like a label, sticker, card, or small tag—that holds a “digital enabler,” such as an NFC chip, QR code, or similar technology. When read by a device, usually a smartphone, the smart tag triggers a specific action, most often taking you to a website or opening an app.

Connected products are powerful tools for offering services and content on a digital storytelling platform that strengthens the connection between a brand and its customers, and gathering useful information for areas like marketing, IP protection, sales, production, and logistics.

We offer a turnkey service for connecting your products. We begin with a consultation to identify the solution that best fits your needs and goals, then handle its launch and support day-to-day management, continuous monitoring, and future development—always fully aligned with your specifications and preferences.

Start with defining your goals (e.g. engaging customers on sustainability, monitoring your supply chain, protecting your brand, or some combination of these). Based on your goals, needs, and budget, we’ll help you pick the right smart tag and set up how data flows between your systems and our platform.

Next, we’ll design the Customer Journey in your consumer engagement platform—your customers’ experience when they connect to your product. This determines what services and content appear in the “Connector” web app and how it looks.

Digital Product Passport

A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital record that stores key information about a product across its lifecycle. It can include details about materials, environmental impact, repair options, and end-of-life handling.

Learn more

Generally, the company or brand placing a product on the EU market is responsible for ensuring it has a Digital Product Passport.

Digital Product Passport providers like Certilogo provide the technology that makes this possible—enabling companies to create and manage DPPs, comply with EU regulations, and give consumers transparent information on sustainability, repairs, and recycling.

Learn more

A Digital Product Passport can include a variety of information about a product, such as:

– Materials and components
– Manufacturing and origin details
– Environmental footprint
– Repair and maintenance instructions
– Recycling and end-of-life guidance

Providing this data helps improve product transparency and supports sustainability goals, positioning Digital Product Passports as enablers of the circular economy.

Learn more

Most DPPs can be accessed by scanning a QR code on a label or tapping NFC chip on a product. The DPP is usually a webpage or app where the product’s information is stored.

Access to the information depends on the user. Consumers typically see basic details about sustainability, repairs, and recycling, while manufacturers, authorities, or supply chain partners may have access to more detailed data through secure access levels.

The Connector

The Connector is a Certilogo web app that allows products to connect with consumers. Brands can choose which services, content, and calls to action to include, and the interface can be designed to match the brand’s look and feel, creating a seamless digital extension of their brand identity. Being a web app, the Connector requires no download and is instantly accessible anytime the consumer wants.

Of course. You’ll be able to fully brand the Connector’s content, look, and feel, so customers experience the same interface and style as the brand’s other digital properties.

Not at all. The amount of work required by the brand is minimal. Plus, our marketing professionals and UI/UX experts will provide all the support you need.

No, customers can access the Connector and all the content the brand provides freely, without registering. They’re only asked to register or log in if they click the call to action for the Certilogo-powered Authenticity Verification Service. Registering for this service lets the brand collect contact and profile information, as well as marketing and profiling opt-ins, all in compliance with GDPR.
